Swinging - Pinpoint & Dig

In the first Chapter you learned how to power up, noise cancel and ground balance the Minelab X-Terra Pro. As well as what VDI numbers to look out for. Gold & Silver rings is all over the road, dig it all.

Now, you are ready to learn how to swing the metal detector (machine), pinpoint and dig your target.

Once you’ve selected your search mode, noise balanced and ground balanced the machine, set in all metal mode, if you choose, and start swinging. Back and forth, left to right, right to left, in front of you, as you carefully proceed. When the machine hits on a target, shorten the pass over the target, turn 90 degrees, over the target. Press the pinpoint button on the machine to turn on, press again to turn off. The pinpoint is not necessary, but helpful sometimes. The machine has a depth guage on the right hand side of the screen. Each arrow under the shovel icon =’s 2 inches down.

Once you have a scoop full, swing over the hole again, if you don’t hear a tone, you likely have the target in your scoop, if you do hear a tone, continue to dig. Good luck.
